Inspiration / Mindfulness

These are some resounding passages, quotes, and lessons I’ve gathered from my many reads over the years that I’ve compiled here and reflect upon often.

All men dream, but not equally…  Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds wake in the day to find that it was vanity; but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act on their dreams with open eyes, to make them possible.  – T. E. Lawrence

The reasonable man adapts to the world; the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself.  Therefore all progress depends on the unreasonable man.     – George Bernard Shaw

It is better to ask Forgiveness than to have missed out and never known.

You are what you do, repeatedly.

On the beaches of despair lie the bleached bones of those who at the moment of triumph hesitated, and in hesitating, lost all.

  • You will become what you think about
  • Remember the word “imagination” and let your mind soar
  • Courageously concentrate on your goal every day
  • Take action – you have everything to gain

Restore Balance

  1. Own your life.  If the choices you’ve made have caused you to be overwhelmed, make better choices in the future.  Learn from your mistakes.
  2. Remember that time, energy, and willpower are limited resources.
  3. Put relationships first.  People in strong relationships lead more stress-free lives.
  4. Instill routines, rituals, and rhythms.
  5. Embrace “No.”  Know yourself and what you can and can’t do.  You won’t be the only one who benefits.
  6. Refresh with short time-outs.  Taking short breaks can often help refuel drained brain.

“Read much, but not too many books.” – Benjamin Franklin

^This quote has resonated and I’ve always interpreted as, read things that you can act upon or that make you better or more aware.  As in, not too much fiction.  The equivalent of, don’t watch too much TV or dive into things to escape reality such as video games.  A little isn’t bad, but realize you could be doing something more productive and beneficial.

Full disclosure, none of this is mine.  100%, I snag all these incredible pieces from others and keep what I find salient here so that you may all relish in the titillating ideas as well.  I will try to reference who they came from, but I recommend, just google it instead.  I’m lazy.  My Twitter is the same way, but slightly more accurate.
